Introduction

There are reasons why so many children leave their faith behind when they leave home. There are too many good children from good homes who have not bought into the faith of their family.

Why? The reason appears to be our children are not being taught the basic principles by which they are to live.

It is Biblically up to the parents to teach their children how they should live. Parents have a small window of time to accomplish this extremely important task.

When should parents begin, at birth. Prayer for the child should begin even before conception. The window of opportunity is approximately from birth until they enter school. We do not stop teaching at the point but we had better taught them the basics. We continue to teach them until they marry or leave home but the basics in this book needs to be implanted into the hearts and minds of our children before they go to school.

These thirteen principles are some of the major basic principles every parent should teach their children:

  • Principle 1: We must teach our children to BELIEVE IN GOD. Genesis 1:1; Romans 1:16-21
     
  • Principle 2: We must teach our children to PRAY TO GOD. Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:1
     
  • Principle 3: We must teach our children to STUDY AND OBEY GOD�S WORD. Luke 11:28
     
  • Principle 4: We must teach our children to OBEY THEIR PARENTS. Ephesians 6:1-3; Colossians 3:20
     
  • Principle 5: We must teach our children to always TELL THE TRUTH. Ephesians 4:15; Revelations 21:8
     
  • Principle 6: We must teach our children to SHARE THEIR TOYS. Proverbs 28:27; Acts 20:35
     
  • Principle 7: We must teach our children to BE KIND TO OTHERS. Ephesians 4:2
     
  • Principle 8: We must teach our children to EXPRESS THEIR FEELINGS. I Peter 5:7; James 1:19
     
  • Principle 9: We must teach our children to LOVE OTHERS AND NOT TALK BAD ABOUT ANYONE. James 4:11
     
  • Principle 10: We must teach our children to MANAGE THEIR MONEY. Proverbs 28:6, 19, 20, 22, 25, 27
     
  • Principle 11: We must teach our children to RESPECT AND OBEY AUTHORITY. Proverbs 6:20
     
  • Principle 12: We must teach our children to CHOOSE THE RIGHT FRIENDS. Proverbs 22:6
     
  • Principle 13: We must teach our children to PRAY FOR AND SEEK THE RIGHT COMPANION. II Corinthians 6:14
